Dubai, renowned for its desert landscape, is set to bolster its green credentials with the addition of 30 new parks. Announced by Dubai Municipality, this ambitious project aims to enrich the city’s outdoor offerings, catering to diverse needs and preferences.
Unveiled at the Arabian Travel Market, the initiative seeks to create a network of green corridors connecting various parts of the city, promoting pedestrian-friendly and sustainable mobility options. These upcoming parks, ranging from expansive mega parks to cozy community play areas, will be strategically located to serve residential, commercial, and service areas.
Designed with community needs in mind, the parks will feature an array of amenities including playgrounds, sports courts, jogging tracks, and more. Each park will be tailored to its neighborhood’s demographics, ensuring that it caters to the preferences of its residents. For instance, areas with a penchant for cricket will see cricket grounds, while basketball courts will be integrated where there’s a demand for basketball.
Ahmed Ibrahim AlZarouni, Head of Public Parks and Recreational Facilities Department at Dubai Municipality, highlighted the innovative design approach, emphasizing the elegance and functionality of these new-generation parks. With plans aligning with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, the city aims to open a total of 70 new parks within the next three years, further enhancing its commitment to sustainability and livability.
